Allegations of sexual harassment and failure to maintain a safe workplace for female flight attendants at WestJet.
WestJet has agreed to a C$4.5m settlement to resolve a decade-long sexual harassment class action lawsuit filed by its female flight attendants. The suit alleged that the company failed to maintain a safe workplace after a pilot allegedly sexually assaulted two flight attendants and WestJet continued to employ the pilot. The settlement was approved by a British Columbia judge on August 12, 2026. The funds will be distributed among 3,452 flight attendants after legal fees and other expenses. WestJet will also hire a third-party to examine workplace harassment prevalence and reporting systems. The lawsuit, initially filed in April 2016, covered female flight attendants who worked for WestJet between April 4, 2014, and February 28, 2021.
