Proposed class action settlements have been reached in Canada against JBS USA Company, Swift Beef Company, JBS Packerland Inc., JBS Canada ULC (collectively “JBS”) and National Beef Packing Company, LLC. The lawsuits allege an unlawful conspiracy regarding the supply and/or price of beef sold in Canada. The settlements, which still require court approval, do not constitute an admission of wrongdoing by the defendants. The class actions were filed on behalf of all Canadians who purchased beef for resale or personal use after January 1, 2015, excluding beef products and meat purchased from the food service industry. The total settlement amounts are $7,498,700 from JBS and $495,000 from National Beef. Individual payout amounts are yet to be determined. The deadline to opt-out of the class action payments is August 10, 2026. Court hearings for settlement approval are scheduled for September...
