Jackson County has agreed to a class action settlement concerning the 2023 property tax assessments, which significantly increased taxes for thousands of homeowners. The lawsuit includes any Jackson County homeowner who paid more than a 15% property tax increase in 2023. Approximately $250 million could be returned to eligible homeowners over the next three years. Notices are being mailed to over 207,000 taxpayers by October 19th. Requests for exclusion must be postmarked by November 18th, and objections must be submitted by the same date. Claims for former owners and special circumstances have a deadline of December 3rd.
