Allegations of "drip pricing" and "double ticketing" by HONK Mobile Inc. regarding undisclosed service fees on its parking app, violating Canada's Competition Act.
HONK Mobile Inc. has agreed to a $463,120 class action settlement in Canada, resolving allegations of "drip pricing" and "double ticketing" through its parking app. The lawsuit claimed that HONK failed to disclose certain service fees at the outset of online ticket purchases, violating Canada's Competition Act. Eligible class members, who are Canadian residents and used HONK and paid a service fee between June 23, 2022, and July 24, 2024, will receive a $0.35 credit towards a future HONK payment. The total settlement fund is $463,120, with $115,780 allocated for legal fees and taxes, leaving $347,340 for class members. The credit is non-transferable, non-refundable, cannot be converted to cash, and expires on December 31, 2027. A settlement approval hearing is scheduled for July 14, 2026.
