Educational Computer Systems Inc. (ECSI) has agreed to a $6.5 million class action settlement to resolve claims that it failed to implement adequate data security measures, leading to a cyberattack between Oct. 29, 2023, and Feb. 12, 2024. The attack may have exposed personal information including Social Security numbers, names, and financial details. Individuals whose information was potentially exposed and who lived in the U.S. at the time may be eligible for compensation. Class members can claim either reimbursement for documented out-of-pocket losses up to $5,000 or an alternative pro rata cash payment estimated at $100.
