A proposed class-action lawsuit has been filed in Ontario Superior Court against Toronto-based crypto wallet maker Coinkite Inc., its co-founders Rodolfo Novak and Peter Gray. The suit alleges that the company's negligence and a coding error in its Coldcard wallets allowed hackers to steal over US$140-million worth of bitcoin from users. Allegations include breach of contract, failure to warn about a critical vulnerability, and violation of Ontario's Consumer Protection Act. The plaintiff, Amir Naderi, lost approximately US$79,763.74 worth of bitcoin. The proposed class includes anyone who purchased specific models of Coldcard devices.
