Capital One has agreed to pay $35 million to resolve a class action over the 2019 data breach that exposed the personal information of Canadian credit card holders and applicants. The proposed claims program covers compensation for time spent responding to the breach, reimbursement of annual credit card fees, and out-of-pocket costs such as credit monitoring, with additional compensation possible depending on claim volume. The settlement covers Canadians outside Quebec and remains subject to approval by the British Columbia Supreme Court at a hearing on September 22, 2026.
