This settlement resolves claims that Accurate Background inaccurately reported criminal records that had been expunged, sealed, or dismissed in consumer reports used for employment purposes. Eligible individuals who disputed such reports and received amended reports may claim up to $5,000.
Who qualifies
- Individuals in the U.S. and territories who received an employment background report from Accurate Background between Feb. 20, 2020 and Feb. 28, 2023.
- Reports contained criminal record information that was expunged, sealed, dismissed, or otherwise removed from public record.
- Individuals who disputed the inaccurate information and received an amended report related to such criminal records.
